HER LIFE 

Biography.

Born in Italy Roberta Pisu is a choreographer and performer based in Munich.

 

From 2012 till 2023 she was a solo dancer and choreographer at the

"Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz" and  a choreographer for many freelance projects.

Since 2020 she is the artistic director of arcis_collective based in Munich.

Born in Cagliari in 1984, she began her professional training at the “Académie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace” (France). Later, in July 2010, she completed her studies at the Department of Contemporary Dance at the “Accademia Nazionale di Danza” (Italy). In 2002, she worked as a soloist with the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. After relocating to Rome and gaining various freelance experiences, she collaborated with Adriana Boriello in 2007 and joined the company “La Compagnia” in 2008 under the artistic direction of Ismael Ivo, Adriana Boriello, Cristiana Morganti, and Margherita Parrilla, with supervision by Pina Bausch. She worked with choreographers such as Jacopo Godani, Robyn Orlin, Wayne McGregor, and Ismael Ivo.

In 2008, she began her career as a choreographer, winning first prize at the Spoleto International Festival. In 2011, she received a choreography scholarship from the “Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.” In 2012, she worked as a dancer for the company "Liens et lieux danse contemporaine marginale," under the direction of Johanne Gour in Montreal.

From December 2012 to July 2023, she was a solo dancer at the “Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz” in Munich under the direction of Karl Alfred Schreiner, and she began working as a choreographer there in 2016. Over these 11 years, she participated in numerous productions, collaborating with renowned choreographers such as William Forsythe, Jacopo Godani, Marco Goecke, Alexander Ekman, Jo Strømgren, Michael Schumacher, Antony Rizzi, Christopher Roman, Erna Ómarsdóttir, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Nanine Linning, Nora Sitges-Sardà, Marguerite Donlon, Emanuele Soavi, Mauro Astolfi, Gaetano Soto, Edward Clug, Georg Reischl, Gentian Doda, Emanuel Gat, Michael Keegan-Dolan, Adam Cooper, Benoît Lachambre, Eyal Dadon, Roberto Zappalà, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Stijn Celis, Omar Rajeh, Frederic Ravel, Ina Christel Johannessen, Roy Assaf, Guy Nader, Maria Campos, Korsia, and Karl Alfred Schreiner.

As a choreographer for the Gärtnerplatztheater, she created various works, including "MINUTE MADE" (2016), "DE AMORE" (2017), "JE SUIS FAUST" (2018), and "SIE" (2018) in collaboration with the Philharmonie at Gasteig Munich. Her other works include the premiere of "MOMO" (2018), "FRIDA KAHLO" (2019), and "METAMORPHOSE" (2019). For the production "SPARKS" at the theater, she choreographed "GEBISSEN" (2020), "WHAT SHE DIDN'T SAY...YET" (2022), and "THE ROSE OF SHARON" (2023).

In 2020, she co-founded the Munich-based collective arcis_collective together with the Arcis Saxophon Quartett, where she serves as the artistic director. With the collective, she has created various works, including "HEIMAT" (2020), "2xGETANZT" (2021), the short film "DAVE," the solo piece "KNITTING GIRL," and "K.I.nd of Human" (2022), as well as "2xGETANZT" (2023), "2xGETANZT2024," and "Quirky Nightclub Chronicles" (2024). Other projects include "REGER GETANZT" (2024) for the Max-Reger Festival in Weiden, “Zwischen Welt” (2024) for the opening of the Monheim Cultural Center, “Toi Toi Toy” (2024) for the Hidalgo Festival in Munich, “A Question of Love” (2024), and “Live Love Arcis,” a new monthly event in Munich for the arcis_collective and “ Re-Set” fo the “Accademia Nazionale di danza in Roma”.

She is currently preparing a new creation “WHITE” written for 1 dancer and 1 Musician and touring with arcis_collective repertoire.

Since 2024, in addition to her work as a choreographer and with the collective, she has been teaching composition at the International Dance School Iwanson in Munich.
